In 1996, the SOM Foundation established the UK Award, a prize to be awarded to students of architecture in the United Kingdom. The firm has had an office in London since 1986 and believes that this award program, conducted in association with and administered by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), is an appropriate way to invest in the British educational community.
The UK Award/SOM Foundation Traveling Fellowship is administered by RIBA as part of its President’s Medals Student Awards.
