On the occasion of the annual RIBA President’s Medals night in December, 2011, the team of Steven Kok, Sean Peel and Hannah Wilson received the SOM Foundation 2011 Fellowship Award, given to a student who has completed the Part 2 course of study at a school of Architecture in the United Kingdom. The team, who each received both their BA and MArch Degrees from the University of Liverpool, will share the award for their winning submission entitled, “Zeitgeist Archive, Berlin.”
“Zeitgeist Archive” is the final project carried out by the team in earning their MArch Degree. As longstanding collaborators, the topics covered in the final project allowed the three to each contribute to areas of interest developed in their individual dissertations. Describing the final project as a “fascinating journey,” through the participation of a city’s inhabitants and the collection of objects they leave behind, the ever changing story of Berlin can be “traced and interpreted” by the viewer leading to infinite differing versions of the city, each one unique, giving insight into the life of the city; the zeitgeist of Berlin.
Sean Peel, who grew up in Cheshire, is currently working on projects all over the world as an Architectural Assistant at the firm of Benoy, in Newark, where he hopes to complete his RIBA part 3 qualification and continue his progression towards qualification as an Architect.
